Purpose of the app

Walk the Dog – Daily Paws helps users establish a regular exercise routine by walking a virtual dog. The app documents walks, shared progress, and the virtual dog's grooming status.

Data processing in the app

Walk the dog – Daily Paws processes the settings and activity data required for its use. This includes the profile and name of the virtual dog, scheduled walk times, information about walks such as date, duration, distance covered and, if applicable, step count, as well as progress, milestones and the virtual grooming status.

Provided the necessary permissions have been granted and the respective functions are used, the app also processes location data for route recording and movement data from Apple Health. Details are explained in the sections "Location Data and Routes" and "Apple Health / HealthKit".

The app stores its data locally on the device, according to current technological standards. The provider does not intend to transmit this locally stored app data to its own servers. The provider has no direct access to this data. Information that users voluntarily submit as part of a support request is processed separately in accordance with the section "Support and Contact".

A built-in iCloud synchronization of app data is not currently implemented. However, depending on your personal Apple and device settings, device backups or Apple Health data synchronization may occur through Apple. When using Apple Watch features, necessary status, reminder, and activity information is exchanged between your iPhone and Apple Watch. Apple's privacy policies also apply to these Apple services.

Location data and routes

Location access is granted for recording walks and calculating distances; this also occurs in the background during an ongoing walk. Routes are stored locally and displayed via Apple Maps. Permissions can be changed in iOS settings.

Apple Health / HealthKit

Provided in the current code:

Read: Walking training, walking/running distance, steps and training routes.
Write: Walking training and walking/running distance.

Purpose: To record walks and import suitable outdoor walking workouts. Access is granted after approval and can be revoked via Apple's settings. Revoking access does not automatically delete previously saved data.

Apple Watch and Reminders

When using the Watch, information such as the dog's status, reminders, and details of the current walk are exchanged between the iPhone and Watch. Walk reminders are local notifications after the user has enabled the necessary permissions.

No analytics, advertising, or tracking

The tested code does not include any third-party SDKs or vendor-provided crash reporting. Apple system services and voluntarily provided support information should still be considered separately.

Support and contact

If users voluntarily contact the provider via email, contact form or other communication channels, the provider processes the data transmitted in order to process the request.

This may include, in particular, name, email address, content of the request, technical details and voluntarily submitted screenshots or files.

Users should avoid unnecessary transmission of Health data, location histories and private routes warn.

Data storage and deletion

If you contact us by email at info@m-i-s-t.com If you contact us via a contact form provided by us, we will process the information you submit to handle your request. This may include, in particular, your name, your email address, the content of your message, and any voluntarily submitted technical information, screenshots, or files.

Submitting a support request does not automatically give us access to your locally stored app data, Apple Health data, or location records.

Please only submit information that is necessary for processing your request. In particular, please remove or redact health data, precise location information, private routes, and information about other people, unless this information is required for clarification.

The processing may involve the email, hosting, and communication service providers we use. You can find more information about this in our [Privacy Policy/Data Protection Statement]. general privacy policy.

Support requests are stored only as long as necessary for processing and follow-up. Longer retention only occurs if legal retention obligations exist or if the information is required for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

Legal basis

Insofar as we process personal data, the legal basis depends on the respective purpose:

Provision of the app and contractual support: Insofar as the processing is necessary for the performance of the user agreement or for the implementation of requested pre-contractual measures, it is carried out on the basis of Article 6 paragraph 1 letter b GDPR.
General contact requests: The processing is based on Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in responding appropriately to inquiries and organizing the necessary communication.
Optional features: Where processing is based on your consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR applies. For consent-based processing of health data, explicit consent pursuant to Article 9(2)(a) GDPR is also required.
Legal obligations: Insofar as processing is necessary for the fulfillment of legal obligations, it is carried out on the basis of Article 6 paragraph 1 letter c GDPR.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of the processing carried out until the withdrawal remains unaffected. You can change access permissions for location, Apple Health, and notifications via the corresponding Apple and device settings. Data already stored will not be automatically deleted as a result.

Recipients of data

According to the current app concept, the provider does not receive any locally stored app data.

When contact is made, communication service providers, hosting providers or other technical service providers may be involved, insofar as this is necessary for the operation of the communication.

User rights

Under the GDPR, users have, in particular, rights to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection.

If data is stored exclusively locally on the user's device or in their Apple account, and the provider has no access to it, the provider cannot view, correct, or delete this data. In this case, the user must manage the data themselves within the app, on the device, or in their Apple account.

Right of appeal

Users have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if they believe that the processing of personal data violates data protection law.

Changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy may be amended if app features, technical processes, or legal requirements change.
